Welcome back to a brand new Vineland Poetry Friday on this crisp Wednesday afternoon. We've decided to celebrate National Poetry Month by posting a poem each week in April! Can you believe that it's been two years since we've started Vineland Poetry Friday and a year since our live event? We are pleased to start off our celebration by having staff member Renee Gimelli reading Matthew Arnold's "Dover Beach." Thanks Renee! To read this poem along with his other great works, check out The Poems of Matthew Arnold.  We hope you guys are still listening and coming back to check with us. We are happy to record and post these poems for your (as well as our) enjoyment! Thank you all again for listening and we hope to see you return next week for another great poem!

Welcome back to a very special holiday edition of Vineland Poetry Friday. We decided to come back from hiatus yet again to revisit our favorite Christmas poem. Both staff members Amy Silva and Anna Fox are back, reading a duet version of Clement Moore's "'Twas The Night Before Christmas." Even though there are numerous copies of the book in our catalog, we recommend checking out 'Twas The Night Before Christmas: A Visit From St. Nicholas with classic 1912 illustrations from Jessie Willcox Smith. We hope you enjoy this classic holiday poem and hope it gives you -- If only alittle -- Christmas spirit. Vineland staff would also like to take this moment to wish all of our listeners, as well as their family and friends, a very happy, healthy, and Merry Christmas along with the very best wishes for the new year! Thanks again for listening!

Welcome again to Vineland Poetry Friday on this sunny Saturday Morning. We regret to inform you that this will be our last Vineland Poetry Friday Podcast. The time and energy put into the podcast has become a bit overwhelming and we are afraid that we will no longer be able to continue with the new SJPL schedule changes. We are very proud of our 50 plus collection of poems that has spanned over a year and even spawned a live reading event. Our first poem in April 2010 was by Lewis Carroll, so we only saw it fitting to end with him as well. Todays poem is Lewis Carroll's "The Walrus and The Carpenter" from Alice in Wonderland, read by staff members Anna Fox and Chikezie Nkwuo. To read this poem, as well as the rest of this delightful story, please check out Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass.

Even though the future of Vineland Poetry Friday is uncertain and there is a possibility of it returning, for now we are going on hiatus. We would like to take this opprotunity to thank everyone who has listened to our poems as well as those who attended our live reading in April. We hope that this will not be the end of visitors and listeners of this site and we encourage anyone to keep returning to listen to our large accumulation of recorded poetry. We have a collection of classics, holiday favorites, and inspiring poetry for everyday life. Again, on behalf of the Vineland Staff, we would like to thank you for listening.
